The Jungle Book 2 is an American animated film from the year 2003. It is the sequel to the film The Jungle Book. However, the film is not based on the story collection The second Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling. The story of Mowgli, who makes his way into the jungle to reunite with his old friends. Although the film was supposed to appear directly on VHS / DVD, he was still in the theaters.

Action

Mowgli, the waif who lives in the settlement of people along with his adoptive parents and his new little brother, Ranjan. He has found in them a real family. Even with the charming girl Shanti, which has lured him into the human settlement, he has struck up a friendship. On the other hand there are in the village a lot of rules and prohibitions. The most important rule states that children should never be allowed to go near the jungle. After some time, however, Mowgli starts to miss the jungle and especially his friend, the bear Baloo.

Balu feel the same way, because he misses his friend Mogli. Although warned by the wise panther Bagheera, Baloo sneaks up against the combined forces of Colonel Hathi and his elephant one night unnoticed into the human settlement and take Mowgli back to the jungle.

Shanti believes in a kidnapping Mowgli by a wild bear and he and Ranjan in search of Mowgli. Also, Mowgli's nemesis Shere Khan sneaks around in the jungle and wants revenge on the son of man. Then there's the snake Kaa, Shanti and Ranjan hypnotized will avenge her, Kaas attempt fails thanks to Ranjan.

Shanti and Ranjan lost in search of Mowgli in the jungle, but finally find him sad sitting on a tree. As short time later Balu chiming in, frightened of this first Shanti who still considers him an enemy, so Shanti and Ranjan run away again. Mowgli is angry at Balu and tracked Shanti. Here he goes deeper and deeper into the forest, where he meets finally on Shir Khan, but also Shanti, Ranjan and Balu come back to it. By a confusion in a temple, they manage to outwit and imprison Shir Khan. Finally, they return to the human settlement, but keep coming back for short visits in the jungle.

Production and publication

The film was produced by DisneyToon Studios, Walt Disney Animation Australia, Walt Disney Pictures and Walt Disney Television Animation, directed by Steve Trenbirth. The screenplay was written by Karl Geurs, the music was composed by Patrick Griffin and for the cut were Christopher Gee and Peter Lonsdale responsible.

The film made ​​its debut on 5 February 2003 in France in the cinemas, followed by premieres in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and on February 9, 2003 in the United States. In Germany the film was released in theaters on March 27, 2003. Walt Disney Studios distributes the film internationally, also on VHS, DVD and Blu -ray.
