The Last Shadow Puppets

The Last Shadow Puppets are a side project of Alex Turner ( lead singer of the band Sheffield Arctic Monkeys ) and Miles Kane ( The Little Flames, The Rascals ). It has existed since 2007.

Band History

Alex Turner and Miles Kane met at a joint tour in May / June 2005 know as Kane's first band The Little Flames as the opening act for the Arctic Monkeys played. On another tour of the two bands in April 2007, she began writing songs for their yet unknown project. In addition, Kane appeared as guest guitarist on the second Monkeys album Favourite Worst Nightmare and played at some concerts with the band. First shots, for the Arctic Monkeys producer James Ford was ( inter alia as a drummer ) involved, took place in France in August 2007. In December 2007, string arrangements by Owen Pallett were also recorded with the London Metropolitan Orchestra. In February 2008, the project was given the name The Last Shadow Puppets. The first album The Age of the Understatement appeared on 21 April 2008, a week after the eponymous single.

The inspiration of their music, the duo calls especially Scott Walker and the early works of David Bowie. The first show they played in March in Brooklyn (New York City). Other individual performances followed. A tour did not exist prior to October 2008, however, as Kane had obligations to its current main band The Rascals, including a tour to promote their debut album. In October there was a larger tour of several European cities.

Kane confirmed in several interviews that The Last Shadow Puppets 2009 working on a new album or new material will absorb it.
