Action

After the events of Ocarina of Time, the then Princess Zelda sent the heroes of the time (Japanese時 の 勇者, Toki no Yusha ) back into the past. This step created two timelines that were separated from each other: In a time line of the Hero of Time returned to stop Ganondorf before he could touch the Triforce of the Gods. In the other timeline, the events of Ocarina of Time really took place, and Zelda sent link in the other timeline.

The Wind Waker is set in the latter time of Line: The Hero of Time disappeared through Zelda's work. As Ganondorf returned to terrorize Hyrule again, therefore, there was no one who could stop him. Finally, the goddesses of Hyrule intervened: Din, Nayru and Farore ordered some residents of Hyrule to seek refuge on the highest mountain peaks. Then they petrified the kingdom, surrounded it with a force field and left it covered in a deluge of a sea. The mountaintops of Hyrule were thereby islands in a sea, on which the people could live. Ganondorf was banished with Hyrule together.

The game's plot is a centuries later: the pirate Tetra is of a giant bird, the masked king, persecuted and eventually ends up on the island of Preludes. There lives the protagonist of the game, Link, with his grandmother and his sister Aril. Instead Tetra finally Aril is kidnapped by the giant bird. Tetra allows Link to launch a rescue attempt in the enchanted bastion where Aril and other Hylian girls are being held captive. The rescue attempt fails, however, it is clear that the ban seal must have failed to Ganondorf, as he commanded the giant bird and the enchanted bastion. Link is thrown out on the high seas, where he, unconscious, from the red lions King (Japanese赤 獅子 の 王, Aka Shishi no Ō, . Closely King of the Red Lions ), a speaking boat, fished out of the sea and the island port Monee is brought.

After he has cleared up link about Ganondorf and seal the spell, this tells him to find the three holy balls ( " Deamonts " ) to gain access to the sunken Hyrule. There Link finds the Master Sword, which acted as a spell seal of Hyrule: Due to its distance, the time in Hyrule passes back to normal, but the UK remains below the power box sunk into the sea. After an unsuccessful battle against Ganondorf is clear that the Master Sword must be brought with the help of two ways to old strength only. The red lions king turns out to be the last king of Hyrule, who has survived the centuries has lived since Hyrule's downfall to find a hero. He also reveals Tetra's identity: she is the direct descendant of Princess Zelda, Ganondorf who desperately seeks, because he desires her Triforce piece ( Triforce of Wisdom). Link adds the eight splinter of the Triforce of Courage back together, then he turns to the fight against Ganondorf and his Triforce piece ( Triforce of Power ) in the sunken Hyrule. Ganondorf succeed in the course of the struggle, Zelda and Link steal their parts and to unite the three Triforce pieces. The united Triforce fulfilled its wearer all expressed wishes. The King of Hyrule it creates but before Ganondorf to touch the Triforce and to express his wish: The force field around Hyrule to fall so that Ganondorf and the kingdom shall be destroyed by the incoming rush of floods and have Link and Zelda a future. The desire is fulfilled, and Ganondorf and the king to die in the now destroyed Hyrule. Only the link and Zelda return to the surface. They leave to search for the people of Hyrule, a new home, which not only consists of small islands.

Background

  • The Wind Waker was released in 2003 for the Nintendo GameCube and presented itself in the guise of cel shading graphics. " Cel-shading " means that the graphics engine visualizes the 3D graphics of the gameplay in a cartoon-like style. Among other things, the color contrast is increased and a reduced color palette used without smooth transitions. At the same time minimalized textures are used. The developers chose this graphic style, to try something new and to the protagonists to make vivid. However, it was on contours, ie the border with black lines omitted (inverse backface culling ).
  • Link explores the overworld here with a sailboat and has the baton of the Wind (Japanese風 の タクト, Kaze no Takuto or Kaze no clock ) control over the wind, which can be used in many ways. With a grappling hook link can also lift from, among other treasures from the boat. In addition, the game offers one of the first more extensive connectivity support, that is, a Game Boy Advance can be connected to the GameCube, so a map and helpful hints can be displayed on the Game Boy Advance screen.
  • The limited edition of the game is a bonus disc that Ocarina of Time and Ocarina of Time Master Quest, a more difficult version of Ocarina of Time contains.

Others
