The Face ( Original title: Ansiktet ) is a twisted black and white Swedish film drama directed by Ingmar Bergman in the year 1958.
Action
Dr. Vogler is with his wife Manda, who disguises himself as the young wizard Aman, his grandmother, the loquacious Tubal, and the coachman Simson in Sweden of 1846 traveling as a " magnetic healing theater " in the country. The in itself taciturn doctor playing the dumb. Heading the group meets on the actor Johan. This dies shortly afterwards unexpectedly.
The jugglers are stopped at Stockholm's city limits and taken to the Consul Egerman. It is said that Dr. Vogler had healed with his theater people. Background
Although The face was based on an original screenplay by Bergman, critics thought parallels to G. K. Chesterton to discover play Magic, the Bergman had staged in 1947 in Gothenburg.
The face was between 30 June and 27 August 1958. The film start on December 26, 1958 in the Swedish and on 7 October 1960 in the German cinemas.
