Lassie and the gold digger is an American movie from 1951 with the film Lassie dog as the main character. The film is based on the novel Shep of the Painted Hills of Alexander Hull.

Action

Gold Digger Jonathan Harvey lives with his Collie dog Shep in the mountains. When he meets with gold, he wants to inform his friend Frank Blake, however, learns of Taylor, a friend of Frank and his family that this is shortly before died of pneumonia. Jonathan visited the widow and give her son Tommie Shep for Christmas.

However, when Shep sick with longing, bring Tommie Taylor and the dog to Jonathan back. Jonathan Taylor tells of his time between discovery of gold; together they look upstream to the mother lode. Taylor is out of fear that someone might make them the gold found in dispute, more and more nervous and therefore responds also suspicious of the visit of Jonathan's friend, the pastor Pilote Pete. Jonathan, however, suspected the reason for Taylor's nervousness is that the gold found due to him only a quarter. While Jonathan Tommie unleashing so that it logs the claim with the help of his mother, Taylor takes on a rocky outcrop the vein of gold. There, Jonathan Taylor pushes into the depths; Shep also can not save their masters. As Shep is too curious, Taylor administered their poisoned food; the dog with the disease but is found and rescued by Indians.

On his return Tommie is confused why Jonathan is not there. As Shep leads the boy to Jonathan's grave, Tommie understands what happened. When Taylor asserts that the claim would have brought nothing, Tommie recognizes its lies, however, found in Pilote Pete no faith. When trying to kill Shep, Taylor falls from a cliff into the deep; shortly before the next snowfall see Shep and Tommie each other again.
