The Spirit Indestructible

The Spirit Indestructible is the fifth studio album by Nelly Furtado. It was released on September 14, 2012 in Mosley Music Group and Interscope Records.

Background

The album was recorded from 2009 to 2012 in various studios, including The Orange Lounge (Toronto, Canada ), the 2nd Floor Studios ( Fountain Valley, California ), Instrument Zoo ( Miami, Florida), Estudios Valentim de Carvalho ( Lisbon, Portugal ) and other in New York City, Santa Monica, Los Angeles and Kingston, Jamaica. Furtado first worked with Salaam Remi, with whom she already recorded Mi Plan. The first single Big Hoops ( Bigger the Better ) was coupled on 17 April 2012. On 31 July 2012, the title song Spirit Indestructible followed as the second European single, on September 18, 2012 Parking Lot as the second U.S. single. On November 9, Waiting For The Night follows as the third European single.

Reception

On the page Metacritic.com album received 63 of a possible 100 points from 7 reviews. The website Allmusic.com awarded 3.5 out of 5 stars. Stephen Thomas Erlewine praised the " human punch " that having the album: " And yet for all its contradictions and clumsiness, it's hard not to admire The Spirit Indestructible, for it is did rare thing: a major -label album did bears the unmistakably messy, human stamp of an artist. "Overall neither the album nor its singles were able to build on the success of the english-speaking predecessor Loose.
