John Shanks

John Shanks is an American record producer, songwriter and guitarist.

Life

He began his career in the late 1980s as a guitarist in the touring band of Melissa Etheridge. Between 1990 and 1995 he wrote several songs for the majority of unknown rock bands and worked as a studio musician. In 1995, he wrote with Melissa Etheridge a few songs for their album Your little secret. In 1999 he produced her album Break Down, which was nominated for three Grammys, including for Best Rock Album.

Shanks wrote in 2001 as a co-writer of four songs for Michelle Branch's debut album, The Spirit Room, including the first hit single Everywhere. He produced the first two albums by Michelle Branch majority itself in 2001 with Sheryl Crow wrote the song Steve McQueen.

In 2004 he produced the album So Called Chaos Alanis Morissette singer and rose thus finally become an internationally renowned producer on. In the same year he wrote several songs for the Australian country rock singer Keith Urban.

For Ashlee Simpson Shanks produced the album Autobiography and I Am Me

In 2005 he won a Grammy Award for Producer of the Year and produced Bon Jovi's Have a Nice Day.

In the meantime, he has worked for artists and bands such as Take That, Backstreet Boys, Santana & Steven Tyler, Hilary Duff, Anastacia, Jewel, or SHeDAISY Unwritten Law as a producer or songwriter.

He also works regularly with Melissa Etheridge, for which he produced the LP Lucky 2004.

Recent work (Miley Cyrus and Van Halen )

In 2009 he wrote and produced under Hollywood Records almost all the EP The Time Of Our Lives by Miley Cyrus. Written and produced it has all of the total of 8 tracks 5: Kicking and Screaming, When I Look At You ( among others soundtrack of Cyrus ' movie The Last Song ) and Talk Is Cheap he wrote and produced the two other songs Obsessed The Climb and he just produced. The greatest success of this EP was able to record with the hit Miley Cyrus When I Look At You, which was almost full and written and produced single-handedly by John Shanks.

Shanks was a producer of the album A Different Kind of Truth U.S. rockers Van Halen. On 20 January 2011 it was announced that the band with John Shanks was in the studio. Shanks spread the news via his Twitter account. Shanks also produced the last album by Bon Jovi, What About Now, which was released in March 2013.
