The Whooliganz

The Whooliganz was an American hip- hop band. It was founded in the early 1990s and consisted of the two MCs Mad Skillz ( Scott Caan, son of actor James Caan ) and Mudfoot ( Alan Maman - now known as producer The Alchemist ).

Band History

Mad Skillz and Mudfoot were two young white rapper from Beverly Hills, relations with the Soul Assassins, met trainers in particular to Cypress Hill and House of Pain and were taken from the label Tommy Boy under contract. With the help of DJ Lethal, they produced 1993 single " Put your handz up" and accompanied the same year, House of Pain, Cypress Hill and Funkdoobiest on the legendary Soul Assassins U.S. tour. In the years to 1995, a full length album called " Make Way for the W", which, however, never appeared arose. About the reasons for this, little is known. In an interview, Alan Maman said that the record label Tommy Boy did not want to take the risk to bring out an album with two teenagers, although the single and the video were to " put your handz up" positively received by critics. The band broke up a short time later. Scott Caan followed in the footsteps of his father and became an actor; Mudfoot - who had copied his tools by DJ Muggs according to its own statements - was the hip-hop faithful and devoted himself as " Alchemist" throughout the production.

Criticism

As far as the music of the Whooliganz is known, it can be described as technically solid, but not outstanding. The industry is subject developed by the style, the DJ Muggs ( Cypress Hill ) and DJ Lethal ( House of Pain ) in the mid 90s. As a supplement to notice that the Whooliganz recorded the titles published around the age of 16 to 18 years and had correspondingly high voices, which was widely perceived as annoying and the band may be denied a wider acceptance. The contrast is particularly evident on the track " Hit the Deck " in which Everlast has a guest appearance.
