Thello

Thello S.A.S. is a 2011 founded by Trenitalia and Transdev railway company based in Paris. It is the first company, which began the competition in long-distance passenger with SNCF, after the market for international long-distance connections in 2009 was liberalized in France. The establishment of Thello took place after the end of the cooperation between SNCF and Trenitalia, the formerly jointly operating with the Artesia trains between Paris and Italy. Thello currently operates night trains between France and Italy.

History

Night trains of Thello been running since December 11, 2011 daily on the route between Paris -Gare de Lyon and Venice - Santa Lucia with intermediate stops at Dijon- Ville, Milan Centrale, Brescia, Verona, Vicenza and Padua, and Venice - Mestre. Cabotage, the transport of passengers on a national section of the international travel have so far not permitted by the Autorité de régulation of Activités ferroviaires ( ARAF ), the authority that regulates the free competition in the French rail network; Tickets Paris - Dijon / Dijon - Paris are therefore not offered by Thello.

On December 9, 2012 Thello took a second night link between France and Italy with Paris -Gare de Lyon - Roma Termini with intermediate stops in Dijon, Bologna and Florence on in his offer.

In October 2013 Thello announced the hiring of connection Paris - Rome after only one year of operation in December 2013. Thello originally have for Paris - Venice via two trains, which are composed of borrowed passenger coaches and locomotives from Trenitalia Akiem, the SBB in Switzerland and Trenitalia in Italy. The gastronomic offer is operated by LSG Sky Chefs.

Business

Thello is a French simplified joint stock company ("Société par actions simplifiée "). 67 percent of the shares are held by Trenitalia and 33 percent of Transdev. The company employs 45 people. Thello 2012 had a turnover of 30 million euros.
