Theodore (Queensland)

Theodore is located on the Dawson River town in the Australian state of Queensland. It is named after the Australian politician Ted Theodore. Theodore is in the local government area ( LGA) Banana Shire Council.

Economically important are the coal mining in the nearby Bowen Basin, a sawmill and a number of agricultural irrigation projects.

During the year 2010 there were repeated floods of the Dawson River. After heavy rainfall led flood again on 28 December 2010 at a water level of the Dawson River from about 14 m. The city was completely evacuated the end of 2010 to 2011 in the wake of the catastrophic floods in Queensland.
