Thielle-Wavre
Thielle -Wavre was until December 31, 2008, a municipality in the district of Neuchâtel canton of Neuchâtel in Switzerland. January 1, 2009 merged Thielle -Wavre with the community Epagnier the new municipality of La Tène. The German name for worldwide Thielle and Wabern for Wavre, are no longer used today.
Geography
Thielle -Wavre is located 7 km northeast of the capital of the canton of Neuchâtel (air line). The double municipality spreads along the foot of the Jura, in the Entre- deux -Lacs between Neuchâtel and Lake Biel. Thielle lies 438 m above sea level. M. on the left bank of the Zihl Canal (French Canal de la Thielle ), while Wavre to 467 m above sea level. M. is at the height of the Plateau de Wavre.
The area of 2.1 km ² large former municipal area includes a portion of the intensively farmed Zihlebene in the Entre- deux -Lacs. The area stretched from Zihlkanal westward across the plains to the plateau de Wavre, on 475 m above sea level. M. the highest point of the municipality has been reached. From the previous municipal area in 1997 16 % was attributable to settlements, 1% of the forest and shrubs, 79% to agriculture and a little less than 4% was unproductive land.
Thielle -Wavre consisted of the two parts of the municipality and Thielle Wavre and the hamlet of Montmirail with a Department of Languages and vocational training. Neighboring communities of Thielle -Wavre were Epagnier, Saint -Blaise and Cornaux in the canton of Neuchâtel and Gals and Gampelen in the Canton of Bern.
Population
With 680 inhabitants ( end of 2007) Thielle -Wavre was one of the smaller municipalities in the canton of Neuchâtel. Of the 77.2 % inhabitants are French-speaking, 16.2 % German-speaking and Italian-speaking 3.6 % (as of 2000).
Economy
Thielle -Wavre has long been a mainly coined by farming village. The fertile soils in the area of Zihlebene and on the Plateau de Wavre are suitable for arable farming and fruit growing, in part, there are also vegetable crops. In recent decades the village has developed into the residential community. Many workers are commuters and work in the region of Neuchâtel.
Traffic
Thielle -Wavre traffic is moderately well developed. It is located off the A5 motorway, which connects Neuchâtel Biel / Bienne and has its own connection point. In Thielle the main road branches from 10 to Bern from the A5. Thielle -Wavre is served by the city bus from Neuchâtel to public transport.
There are also right on the Zihlkanal on the Bernese side the stop Zihlbrücke the BLS. However, this is in the municipality of Gampelen, although hamlet of the same name is a part of the community Gals. From Thielle -Wavre they can be reached via the railway bridge by bike or on foot. Here, however, hold only regional trains ( S5 daytime, evenings regions of the TPF ).
History
The area around Thielle been inhabited since the Neolithic period and the Bronze Age. Since the Celtic period in the 1st century BC was at Thielle an important crossing over the Zihl, a Roman bridge was renewed several times.
The first written mention of the village Thielle took place in 1153 under the name de Tela and Thela while Wavre was first mentioned in 1179 as Wavra. Both places were in the 14th century to the County of Neuchâtel. They were part of the castle Bailiwick Thielle, which was responsible for the legal affairs of the region from the 14th century until 1848. Since 1648 Neuchâtel principality and 1707 was linked by personal union with the Kingdom of Prussia. 1806, the region was ceded to Napoleon I. and came in 1815 during the Congress of Vienna to the Swiss Confederation, whereby the kings of Prussia until 1857 Neuchâtel trade also prince of Neuchâtel remained. 1888, the two previously independent municipalities Thielle and Wavre were merged to form one administrative unit. During the first 1894, the Jura water correction Zihl was straightened.
