Tiruvalangadu (Tamil: திருவாலங்காடு Tiruvālaṅkāṭu [ t̪iɾɯʋa lʌŋɡa ː ː ɖɯ ]; well Thiruvalangadu, Tiruvalankadu ) is a village in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The population is approximately 6,300 ( 2011 census ).

Tiruvalangadu located in Tiruttani Taluk of Tiruvallur district in the north of Tamil Nadu some 60 kilometers west of Chennai (Madras ), the capital of the state, and 40 kilometers north of Kanchipuram. The nearest major town is Arakonam. About five kilometers south of the town is the Tiruvalangadu railway station served by the Chennaier suburban railway (Chennai Suburban Railway) is operated.

Tiruvalangadu houses an important Hindu shrine, the Vadaranyeswarar Temple. The oldest inscriptions in the temple date back to the 5th century, in its present form but comes to the temple from the Chola period (12th - 13th centuries). The Temple of Tiruvalangadu is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is adjacent to the Nataraja temple in Chidambaram, the Meenakshi temple in Madurai and the temples of Tirunelveli and Courtallam to the " five dance halls " ( Pancha Sabha ), a group of five temples where Shiva lists in his manifestation as Nataraja, the "King of Dance", his cosmic dance ( Tandava ). According to the myth itself is Shiva ( Tiruvalangadu means " sacred banyan forest " ) in Tiruvalangadu in a banyan forest have delivered a dance contest with the goddess Kali. He had defeated Kali by raising his left foot to Urdhva - Tandava - stance over his head. Shiva's dance in Tiruvalangadu was sung in the 6th century by the poet anthem Karaikal Ammaiyar.
