Thomas Bloch

Thomas Bloch (born 1962 in Colmar ) is a French composer, performer and music producer. He lives in Paris.

He is a specialist of rare instruments such as glass harmonica, Ondes Martenot, Cristal Baschet and Waterphone.

Thomas Bloch studied ondes Martenot at Jeanne Loriod at the Paris Conservatory and musicology at the University of Strasbourg.

He has performed with the world's most prestigious conductors (Pierre Boulez, Valery Gergiev, Myung- Whun Chung, Paul Sacher, Christoph Eschenbach, Kristjan Järvi, Ivor Bolton, Michel Plasson, ... ), numerous CDs .. (Naxos, EMI, Sony, German Grammophon. ) show the artistic range of performers and composers between classical and contemporary music to rock, pop, film music, theater and ballet music (3000 concerts and more than 100 CDs).

He appeared in films (Amadeus, the Penguins ) and occurred with Radiohead, Gorillaz, Daft Punk, Tom Waits and Bob Wilson, Marianne Faithfull, Tindersticks, Vanessa Paradis, Nana Mouskouri, Jane Birkin.

Since 1992 he teaches Ondes Martenot at the Conservatoire National Strasbourg, and is responsible for the presentation of the instruments at the Musée de la Musique. As musical director, he leads the Evian Music Festival.
