Thomas Chenery
Thomas Chenery (* 1826 in Barbados, † February 11, 1884 in London ) was an English orientalist.
Chenery studied at Eton College ( Eton ) and at Gonville and Caius College ( University of Cambridge ). Upon successful completion, he worked for some time as a lawyer. By the time you became aware of his research in the field of oriental philology and this brought him then in 1868 a teaching position as " Professor the Arabic language " at the University of Oxford a.
In parallel, Chenery was also a member of Christ Church College. 1870 he was appointed as one of the auditors for a new authorized version of the Old Testament. Furthermore him the Royal Asiatic Society appointed an honorary secretary.
