Thomas Finlay (judge)
Thomas Aloysius Finlay ( * 1922 ) is a former Irish Fine Gael politician and former Chief Justice ( Chief Justice ) of the Supreme Court
Biography
After school he studied law and was after graduation worked as a Barrister -at -Law. In 1954 he was elected as a candidate of the Fine Gael MEPs for ( Teachta Dala ) of the lower house ( Dáil Éireann ) and represented in this until his election defeat in 1957 the constituency of Dublin South - Central.
On October 10, 1972, he was appointed Judge of the High Court, the Supreme Civil and Criminal Court of Ireland. Which he was president 1974-1985.
In 1985, his appointment as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court has held this position Thomas A. Finlay until 1994.
Currently, he is a former chief judge nor a member of the State Council ( Comhairle Stait ), an advisory body to the President of Ireland.
