Thomas I, Marquess of Saluzzo

Thomas I. del Vasto (* 1239, † 1296 ) was Margrave of Saluzzo from 1244 to 1296.

Life

Thomas was the son of Margrave Manfred III. of Saluzzo and Beatrice of Savoy, and succeeded his father in 1244 as Margrave of Saluzzo. On the death of his father only five years old, he was educated at the court of Boniface II of Montferrat in Chivasso. Under his rule, Saluzzo began to play a more active role in the Piedmontese policy.
