Thomas Molnar

Thomas Steven Molnar, Tamás Molnár István ungar ( born July 26, 1921 in Budapest, † July 20, 2010 in Richmond (Virginia ), United States ) was a Hungarian- American Catholic philosopher, historian and political theorist.

Life

Molnar was the only child of Sándor Molnár and Blon Aranka. He studied from 1944 to 1948, first at the Free University of Brussels in Belgium and moved following the Columbia University in New York City, where he in 1952 for Ph.D. doctorate in philosophy and history. From 1957 to 1967 he taught at Brooklyn College. He then held a professorship at the Long Iceland University ( 1967), at the University of Potchefstroom in South Africa ( 1969), at Hillsdale College ( Michigan) ( 1973-74 ), Yale University ( 1983), University of Mendoza ( Argentina).

After the political changes in Hungary, he was also a Visiting Professor of Religious Studies at the University of Budapest, taught at the Catholic Pázmány Péter University and was a member of the Hungarian Academy of Arts (hu) since 1995.

As the author of over 40 books and articles in French and English, he has published on a variety of topics related to religion, politics and education.

Molnar commented that he had been inspired by Russell Kirk's The Conservative Mind.

Molnar was married and has a son.
