Thomas Sebastian Byrne

Thomas Sebastian Byrne ( born July 28, 1841 in Hamilton, Ohio, USA, † September 4, 1923 in Nashville, Tennessee) was Bishop of Nashville.

Life

Thomas Sebastian Byrne visited the St. Thomas Seminary in Bardstown, Kentucky. Byrne studied Catholic theology and philosophy at Mount St. Mary 's Seminary of the West in Cincinnati and at the Pontifical North American College in Rome. He received on 22 May 1869, the sacrament of Holy Orders. Then Byrne taught at Mount St. Mary 's Seminary of the West in Cincinnati.

On May 10, 1894, he was named Pope Leo XIII. Bishop of Nashville. The Archbishop of Cincinnati, William Henry Elder, donated to him on July 25th of that year, the episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were the Bishop of Columbus, John Ambrose Watterson, and the Bishop of Covington, Camillus Paul Maes.
