Thomas Shardelow

Thomas Frederick "Tommy" Shardelow ( born November 11, 1931 in Durban ) is a former South African racing cyclist.

Tommy Shardelow launched twice at the Olympic Games. In 1952, he won two silver medals in Helsinki, in tandem race with Ray Robinson, as well as with the South African railway quad ( Jimmy Swift, Robert Fowler, George Estman ) in the team pursuit. In the British Empire and Commonwealth Games in 1954 in Vancouver, he finished third in the sprint. 1956, at the Olympic Games in Melbourne, he started with Robinson again on the tandem, but the duo retired in the second round. In the sprint Shardelow did not progress beyond the first round.
