Thomas Stevenson

Thomas Stevenson (* 1818, † 1887) was a Scottish engineer and lighthouse builder.

He was the youngest son of Robert Stevenson and the brother of Alan and David Stevenson, all of which were also lighthouse builders. Thomas ' son, Robert Louis Stevenson came to the chagrin of the father not the family tradition, but achieved fame as a writer.

Between 1854 and 1886, designed by Thomas Stevenson, along with his brother David, and later with his son, David Alan Stevenson, more than thirty lighthouses in and around Scotland. In addition, he also developed named after him and still used today, " Stevenson screen" to shield meteorological instruments against precipitation and heat radiation.
