David Stevenson (engineer)

David Stevenson (* 1815, † 1886) was a Scottish engineer and designer of nearly thirty lighthouses around Scotland.

David came from a family of lighthouse builders from Scotland, which had been founded by his father. The lighthouses he built 1854-1880, with his brother Thomas Stevenson. His two sons, David Alan Stevenson and Charles Alexander Stevenson led continued his work.

In Japan he is known for his support for Richard Henry Brunton, where a new method, some seismic lighthouses were built.
