Thongchai Jaidee

Thongchai Jaidee ( Thai: ธงชัย ใจดี - [t ʰ On- ʧai ʤai - di ː ], born November 8, 1969 in the province of Lopburi, Central Thailand) is a Thai professional golfer the Asian Tour and the European Tour.

Career

Thongchai Jaidee began relatively late, at age 16, to play golf, went in 1989 to the Royal Thai Army and was trained as a paratrooper. He had a successful amateur career with five tournament victories, including the Amateur Championship of Pakistan, Thailand and Singapore and in 1999 launched his career as a professional golfer.

Thongchai turned to the Asian tour, was soon successful and won the money rankings of the years 2001, 2004 and 2009. In February 2004, he was the first Thai golfer who finished a tournament on the European Tour victory, the Carlsberg Malaysian Open, an event, which was organized jointly with the Asian Tour. The following year, Thongchai could defend that title. For the Masters 2006, he received an invitation and became the first Thai who has played all four majors.

In the golf world rankings, he was temporarily in the Top 100, its best ranking in the European Tour Order of Merit was a 19th place in the 2009 season. Thongchai was drafted into the Asian team for the 2006 inaugural Royal Trophy, a team competition on the type of Ryder Cup between Asia and Europe's elite golfers. In Dynasty Cup, he stood in the previously discharged Encounters - 2003 and 2005 - in the victorious Asian team.

Thongchai Jaidee is married to Namfon Jaidee since 1998. The two have one child and reside in Lopburi, Thailand.
