Thurbo

Thurbo AG (CI Compliant THURBO ) is a railway company in eastern Switzerland. It operates on a route network of 590 kilometers from the regional traffic, making them one next to the SBB of the largest railway transport undertakings ( RUs ) in Switzerland. Every year about 24 million passengers transported Thurbo.

Thurbo is a company founded in 2002 company, the Canton Thurgau is one of the SBB and 90% to 10%. However, the Thurbo is independently and responsible for the operation. The term is a combination of THURBO Thur respectively Thurgau and Lake Constance.

The infrastructure ( Wil SG Weinfelden - Kreuzlingen ) the liquidated Mittelthurgaubahn ( MThB ) became the property of the Thurbo, but is entertained by the Railway Infrastructure. Thurbo is only active as a railway company in the operation of regional trains.

History

By 2005, the subsidiary EuroThurbo GmbH, which was responsible for the fantastic Seehas Germany and Seehäsle routes as well as for the Allgäu- Express existed. These routes have been taken on in 2005 by the German Railway subsidiary SBB GmbH, as the Canton Thurgau, the 10 percent of Thurbo belong, would endorse no economic risks in the operation of international routes.

The rolling stock of the Thurbo consists of 92 locomotives of the type of GTW Stadler Rail (December 2013). The abbreviation stands for GTW articulated railcar. The GTW Thurbo exist in two versions, one for the short GTW 2/ 6, and the longer a middle car GTW 2 / 8th Ten of these vehicles were GTW 2/ 6, supplemented by an intermediate car and thus became GTW 2/8. The increase in passenger numbers and the services being operating on the route Tösstal require this extension.

In the transitional period also older rolling stock was used until 2007. Were taken over by the former MThB ABDe 536 (EAV ) and RBDe 566 ( NPZ ), were also of the SBB RBDe 560 ( NPZ ) and RBe 540 rented.

Currently Thurbo is only on the range of S33 Winterthur - Schaffhausen during rush hour, a single RBe -540 - compositions.

Advertising

Thurbo rolling stock is also used as advertising space. Radio and Tele TOP advertise on RABe 526 707 with a full advertising on the outside skin. The page advertises the other for Tele Radio TOP TOP.

Multiple only a partial advertising is applied to the driving part. Numerous companies and events, but also the cantons of Thurgau, Schaffhausen, St. Gallen and Aargau, advertise on the trains.
