Tigran Hamasyan

Tigran Hamasyan (Armenian Տիգրան Համասյան, Tigran Hamasjan; born July 17, 1987 in Leninakan ) is an Armenian jazz pianist.

Life and work

Tigran Hamasyan received in childhood classical piano and won after his family moved to Yerevan in 1997 first music competitions. At the interna tional tino Jazz Festival in Yerevan in 2000 he met Chick Corea and Stéphane Kochoyan. By Festivalorganistor Kochoyan Hamasyan was given the opportunity to perform at numerous major festivals in France, where he inter alia with Pierre Michelot and Daniel Humair made ​​acquaintance. Winning the Thelonious Monk Jazz Competition and the release of his debut album World Passion ( 2006) helped Hamasyan final breakthrough. Since 2009, he works out of New York City. The Quebec newspaper Le Devoir chose his album A Fable of the top five new releases in jazz of 2011. Arve Henriksen with Jan Bang, Erik Honoré and Robert Jürjendal he took the soundtrack to the movie Victoria (2013 ) by Torun Lian on.
