Tilichiki

Tilitschiki (Russian Тиличики ) is a village in the region of Kamchatka (Russia) with 1744 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ).

Geography

The village is located in the northeast of the Kamchatka Peninsula, on the shore of the lagoon Skrytaja Gawain ( " Hidden Port "), which is separated by a narrow spit of northern part of the Korf Bay of the Bering Sea. Tilitschiki is less than 1000 kilometers (direct distance) north-east of the regional capital Petropavlovsk -Kamchatsky. About six kilometers to the south lies on the Spit the village (formerly urban-type settlement and greater than Tilitschiki ) Korf with 1378 inhabitants ( 2006).

The town is the administrative center of the Rajons Oljutorski, named after the indigenous population of the area, the Koryak, which were formerly called " Oljutorzen " (Russian oljutorzy ).

History

The well-known since 1898 the village was in 1930 the administrative center of the newly established Rajons Autonomous Okrug Koryak.

In April 2006, the village was seriously damaged by a series of earthquakes. The first quake occurred on April 21 ( late evening of April 20, according to UTC) and had a magnitude of 7.6. The hypocenter was about 90 kilometers northeast of the town at a depth of 22 kilometers under virtually uninhabited area. It was followed by several aftershocks, and on April 29, another earthquake with a magnitude of 6.6. In these most powerful earthquakes in the region for more than 100 years, although there were no fatalities, but three smaller villages of Rajons ( Apuka, Chailino, wywenka ) were completely destroyed.

Since Tilitschiki most important place of the more than 1,000 -kilometer-long section of coast between Anadyr in the north and Ust- Kamchatka in the south, it was decided to rebuild the site again. Until the year 2007, therefore, the new settlement Werchnije Tilitschiki ( "Upper Tilitschiki " unofficial name) was a little higher above the sea situated place.

Until 30 June 2007, the Rajon was part of the Koryak Autonomous Okrug; Since then he belongs to the Association of Autonomous Okrug with the Kamchatka Oblast to the new eponymous region. Tilitschiki remained Rajonverwaltungszentrum.

In Tilitschiki is the management of the founded in 1995, over 300,000 acres of nature reserve Korjakischer Sapowednik.

Economy and infrastructure

Economic activities are fishing and fur hunting; in Rajon be potatoes and vegetables, some in greenhouses, cultivated and used in reindeer husbandry.
