Tim Sweeney (ice hockey)

Tim Sweeney ( born April 12, 1967 in Boston, Massachusetts ) is a retired American professional ice hockey player who is active during his active career, among other things, for the Calgary Flames, Boston Bruins, Mighty Ducks of Anaheim and New York Rangers of the National Hockey League had.

Career

Tim Sweeney began his footballing career at the Madison Capitol in the United States Hockey League, for which he was active from 1982 to 1983. He then went to the Weymouth High School in Weymouth, Massachusetts, and for their hockey team, the Maroons North Weymouth, on the ice. 1985 Sweeney began studying at Boston College and played ice hockey team in the Boston College Eagles in the Hockey East. During this time, he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 1985 in the sixth round of a total of 122 position of the Calgary Flames.

In the season 1989/90 Sweeney went for the Salt Lake Golden Eagles of the International Hockey League on the ice and had there once to the best scorers in the league, when he was in 81 games of the regular season, scored a total of 97 points scorer and thus the sixth place in the points classification of IHL occupied. For these achievements, Sweeney was awarded the Ken McKenzie Trophy as the best American rookie. The best scorer in that season was Michel Mongeau, who scored 117 points. The offensive player then spent the following season largely with the Calgary Flames of the National Hockey League, but also stood for a few games for the Salt Lake Golden Eagles in action. In the 1990/91 season, the attacker completed 42 NHL games for the Flames and scored 16 points. After he had stood in the following season in Calgary in use, his contract was not renewed at end of season. On September 16, 1992, he signed as a free agent with the Boston Bruins. The majority of the following season, he was responsible for their farm team, the Providence Bruins in the American Hockey League active and achieved in a total of 63 games 100 points for the Providence Bruins.

On 24 June 1993, he was selected in the NHL Expansion Draft by the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim. In the season 1993/94 Sweeney completed his best season in the NHL, as he scored 43 points in 78 games for the Californians. However, in the following season he lost his place in Anaheim and received no contract extension offered. On 9 August 1995, he signed again as a free agent with the Boston Bruins and played in the next two years, both for their team in the NHL and for the farm team, the Providence Bruins in the AHL. After his contract was not renewed again, he joined in September 1997, the New York Rangers. In the 1997/98 season Sweeney managed a solid season with 29 points in 56 games scorer for the Rangers. At season's end, his contract was not renewed again and he signed on 3 October 1998, the Providence Bruins. After just two games of his career told attacker week later prematurely terminated.

Internationally

Sweeney participated with Team USA at the 1994 World Cup. He also represented his country at the Olympic Winter Games 1992.
