Timoshenko Medal

The Timoshenko Medal is awarded by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME ) for outstanding contributions to the field of applied mechanics ( Mechanics ) since 1957.

It is regarded as one of the most prestigious international awards in the field of engineering mechanics and is awarded in honor of Stepan Prokofjewitsch Tymoshenko. The award consists of a bronze medal and a cash prize ( $ 2,000, as of 2011), first prize winner in 1957 Tymoshenko itself every year - at the annual meeting of the ASME - holds the winners of each year a lecture.

The Timoshenko Medal Committee consists of the last five Timoshenko Medal winners, the five members of the Executive Committee of the ASME, and from the last five predecessors of the Executive Committee of the ASME. After recommendations were made, a winner will be determined and approved by the ASME by the Committee.
