Timothy West

Timothy Lancaster West CBE ( born October 20, 1934 in Bradford, Yorkshire ) is a British film and stage actor.

Life

Timothy West is the son of British actor Lockwood West and his wife Olive. Although he does not wear a title of nobility itself, but West comes from the family of the Earl De La Warr, and thus from Thomas West, 3rd Baron De La Warr from. Both parents were the majority of the year on tour.

West enjoyed his education at the John Lyon School in the London Borough of Harrow and a polytechnic before he stood for the first time in the play Summertime in the theater on the stage at Wimbledon in 1956. In 1961, West stood as an actor before the camera, first in predominantly British television series. West is an expert when it comes to embody expressive characters. His roles included, among other things, historical figures such as Winston Churchill, Mikhail Gorbachev or the Roman emperor Vespasian. In the British mini-series Edward the Seventh West 1975 stood as Edward VII in front of the camera.

Timothy West was previously married twice. For a brief first marriage to Jacqueline Boyer, the late 1950s, comes his son Joseph. West is married to the actress Prunella Scales since 1962; from this marriage comes his son Samuel West, who also works as an actor. Joseph and Samuel West have embodied in Edward the Seventh Timothy West's film sons.

For his services to the theater he was in 1984 awarded the Order of the British Empire ( CBE).
