Titanic - The Musical is a musical by Maury Yeston (music) and Peter Stone ( libretto ) about the sinking of the Titanic on April 14, 1912 The premiere took place on 23 April 1997 at the Lunt - Fontanne Theatre on Broadway in New York..

Action

The play begins at the port of Southampton and ends after the disaster with the rescue of the survivors. In between, you get to know the crew and passengers of the Titanic. In the third class, a young couple in love and dreams of a new start in the New World. In the first class, an old Jewish couple is still so in love like a long time ago.

The accompanying Bruce Ismay, director of the White Star Line vessel owner is shown as a cold-hearted person who Captain EJ Smith pushes back down with the Titanic maiden voyage to New York in record time. Therefore, the captain increased speed, suggests a more northerly (shorter ) route and ignored iceberg warnings. The Titanic begins to sink after it collided with an iceberg.

Also, most other roles correspond to real persons, eg Thomas Andrews ( the designer), Frederick Barrett ( heater, and there were two on the ship with this name ) and Harold Bride ( the radio operator ) and the millionaires Ida and Isidore Strauss ( co-owner of the department store chain Macy's ), JJ Astor and Benjamin Guggenheim.

The German version of which dates from Wolfgang Adenberg. It was shown 2003 321 time at the Neue Flora in Hamburg from December 2002 to October. The extra love duet has been added " three days " in the second act for the production in Hamburg.
