Tivoid languages
The tivoiden languages ( short Tivoid ) form a sub- unit of the Southern Bantoiden languages , a branch of the Benue - Congo languages , which in turn belong to the Niger - Congo.
The 20 tivoiden languages are spoken by about 2.5 million people in eastern Nigeria and northern Cameroon. The most important language is the Tiv with 2.2 million speakers in the Nigerian states of Benue, Plateau and Taraba is spoken.
