Tollet

Tollet is a municipality in Upper Austria in the Gries district churches in Hausruckviertel with 900 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013). The municipality is located in the judicial district of Gries churches.

Geography

Tollet is located on 381 m altitude in Hausruckviertel. The expansion is 4.8 kilometers from north to south, from west to east 3.1 km. The total area is 9.6 km ². 17.7% of the area is forested, 71.9 % of the area is used for agriculture.

History

Tollet was first mentioned in documents in 1170. Originally in the eastern part of the Duchy of Bavaria lying, was the place since the 12th century the Duchy of Austria. Since 1490 he is the Principality ' Austria above the Enns ' attributed. Since 1855 Tollet has its own mayor. Since 1918, the town belongs to the province of Upper Austria. Coat of arms

Blazon: Oblique divided; top in gold, a black, red reinforced cock with red comb and red cloth chin, below in red a golden wheel with six plow blades ( Sixteenth ) as spokes. The municipality colors are red -yellow-red.

The cock in lent 1989 municipal coat of arms is the emblem of the Linz Bishop Franz Zauner taken, who was born in Tollet. The wheel refers to the only Wagnereimuseum Austria in Tollet. The coulters are taken from the coat of arms of Jörger who had for several centuries owner of the castle Tollet. Hahn and wheel also illustrate the agricultural character of the community.

Culture and sights

  • Castle Tollet: The first fortification dates back to the year 1170. From 1601 and 1611 was Hans V. Jörger of Tollet the castle newly built in the Renaissance style, inter alia, with a Hofumgang with interesting cover grilles from 1607 which have 48 fields with 46 different motifs. From 2002 to 2009 renovation of the castle. Today, the district home house Grieskirchen, a non-profit cultural association, headquartered at Castle Tollet and operates since 23 April 2009 Castle Museum Castle Kulturama Tollet with exhibitions and concerts.
