Tom DeLonge
Thomas Matthew " Tom" DeLonge ( born December 13, 1975 in Poway, California ) is a guitarist, singer, songwriter and co-founder of the American punk band blink- 182 and Box Car Racer. In the spring of 2005, he formed the rock band Angels & Airwaves. Since February 2009 he is again guitarist and vocalist for the rock band blink- 182. Life
Tom DeLonge attended Poway High School in California. Of this he was exiled for one year, as he appeared drunk at a basketball game. During this time he attended Rancho Bernardo High School. After his " one-year ban", he returned to Poway HS and was elected at the Prom by his friends for Homecoming King. With this action, the directors of the HS should be a lesson to be missed. After school, Tom worked at Gary 's Chicken and Ribs in his hometown of Poway. Tom appeared in the film Idle Hands on as fast food employee. Here he wears a sombrero and just says " Alright". His first guitar was DeLonge with 15 from a friend. She was broken, but he did set himself to play the guitar.
After school Tom DeLonge had several part-time jobs. In 1992, Anne Hoppus him before her brother Mark Hoppus. They both wanted to start a band, but had difficulties to find members. Already enrolled at their first meeting Hoppus and DeLonge the song Carousel.
On May 25, 2001 Tom DeLonge married his longtime girlfriend Jennifer Jenkins. One of his favorite bands, Jimmy Eat World, played at the wedding. They have a daughter, Ava Elizabeth DeLonge (born 15 July 2002), and a son, Jonas Rocket DeLonge (born 16 August 2006). They both live in San Diego, California.
In 2002, Mark, Tom and Travis took a break from Blink -182, the creative took Tom along with Travis. With Box Car Racer, Tom realized his idea of music. Together with David Kennedy and Anthony Celestino They recorded an album Box Car Racer, playing a tour of America. Early 2003 were Mark, Tom and Travis then back into the studio to record the receive at least last blink-182 album to Reunion.
In summer 2004, Tom made a small detour into politics. Tom abhors war and is therefore an enemy of George W. Bush. In the elections for President of the United States Tom campaigned for Democrat John Kerry. His fans and followers should help to bring John Kerry to power, and so stop the war in Iraq. Tom's older brother, Shon is in the army and was in Iraq in use ( blink-182 played a 2003 concert for the soldiers). On the blink-182 tour in 2004 it came to the separation due to disagreements within the band. In England, the three a break of half a year decided ( out of the hiatus was then ). After Tom had left the band, he worked in secret on new songs and collaborated with his friends from Taking Back Sunday. Tom produced the video for the song This Photograph Is Proof. Suddenly, Tom came forward again musically word in which he announced the creation of his new band Angels & Airwaves. This consists of musicians from the rock scene as Adam Willard, Ryan meaning of The Distillers - now Matt Wachter from 30 Seconds to Mars - and David Kennedy from his side project Box Car Racer. The first album We Do not Need to Whisper arrived in the U.S. on 23 May 2006 on the market, in Germany on 30 June 2006.Mit Angels & Airwaves he played parts of the announced world tour, they were in America and Europe go. The managers of Angels & Airwaves are Rick DeVoe and Chris Georggin, which also act as manager of blink- 182.
8 February 2009 blink-182 announced at the 51st Grammy Awards that they are back together making music. After their reunion tour ended in 2009, they came in the summer of 2010 to Europe and played among other things, on the Highfield Festival.
