Thomas Tucker " Swede " Hanson ( born November 10, 1907 in Navesink, New Jersey, USA; † 7 September 1985) was an US- American football player. He played as a running back in the National Football League ( NFL), among others, at the Philadelphia Eagles.

Playing career

Swede Hanson studied at Temple University, where he also played for their football team. In 1931 he was hired by the Brooklyn Dodgers and moved to one game year for local rivals, the Staten Iceland Stapleton. The Stapleton had to retire from the NFL after the season in 1932 for financial reasons. Hanson got an offer from the Philadelphia Eagles, who were admitted into the NFL in 1933 new. He played for five years with this team. From 1933 to 1936 Hanson was the most successful running back the team from Philadelphia. In 1934 he was the first player of the Eagles of over 100 yards could achieve space savings by running play in a game. When 19:6 defeat of his team against the Green Bay Packers him get 116 yards space gain. After another year in the game, coached by John McNally Pittsburgh Pirates in 1938, he finished his career.
