Tomas Vaitkus

Tomas Vaitkus ( born February 4, 1982 in Klaipėda) is a former Lithuanian cyclist.

Career

Vaitkus was 2003 professional with Landbouwkrediet - Colnago. He went there for two years and moved to the current ProTour team AG2R Prévoyance. His most successful year was the U23 time trial world champion from 2002 in the 2005 season. He won the Tartu GP and was in several important race in second place. Among other things, he finished second at the GP Scheldeprijs and fourth at the Tour of Denmark, where he previously won two stages in the years. In the UCI Europe Tour 2005 sprint strong Lithuanians in 15th place overall.

At the Giro d' Italia 2006, he suggested in a mass sprint, among others, none other than Paolo Bettini, Olaf Pollack and Robbie McEwen and thus secured the biggest win of his career.

End of the 2013 season, he finished his career as a professional cyclist.
