Tomi Nyback

Tomi Nybäck ( born April 3 1985 in Järvenpää ) is a Finnish chess player. He became an International Master in 2001. Since 2003 he is the Grand Master.

His current Elo rating is 2627 (as of September 2011), so that he leads the Finnish ranking as the youngest player in the top 20 with a big lead for many years. He had his highest Elo rating of 2656 from January to April 2011.

Achievements

In April 2002, he won a First Saturday GM Tournament in Budapest. When Stork Young Masters in August 2002 in Hengelo he shared the first place with Jan Smeets and reached a Elo performance of 2721st In October 2002, he was third at the U18 European Championship in Peniscola. In July 2003 he won the Heart of Finland tournament in Jyväskylä. Also in the U18 World Youth Championship in October / November 2003 in Halkidiki, he reached the third place. The Finnish singles championship he won in 2008 in Mänttä with 9 points from 9 games.

Nybäck plays in the Finnish 1st league, the SM -Liiga, for Aatos Helsinki.
