Tommi Miettinen

Tommi Miettinen ( born December 3, 1975 in Kuopio ) is a retired Finnish professional ice hockey player who is in the SM- liiga, as well as for Brynäs IF and Luleå HF was active in the Elitserien during his career for KalPa Kuopio, Turku TPS and Ilves Tampere. Since his career end of 2013, he works as a coach. His brothers Jami and Tatu are also professional hockey players.

Career

Tommi Miettinen began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the junior department of KalPa Kuopio, for his professional team from 1992 to 1995 he was active for the first time in SM- liiga of, the highest Finnish league. During this period he was also selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 1994 in the tenth round as a total 236 players from the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, for which he, however, never played. Instead, signed the Center for the 1995/96 season a contract with TPS Turku. With the team, he was vice-champion in 1996 and 1997 respectively, and he won in the 1998/99 season with TPS of the Finnish championship. At European level, he won with his team the European Hockey League beyond 1997.

From 1999 to 2002 played Miettinen for Ilves Tampere of the SM - liiga in. He then spent three and a half years at Brynäs IF in the Swedish Elitserien and a half years with the SCL Tigers in the Swiss National League A. With the Tigers, he was able to convince especially in the 2006/07 season, when he was in 44 games 33 points scorer, nine goals scored. From 2007 to 2009, the former national player for Luleå HF in the Swedish Elitserien stood on the ice. Since the 2009/10 season, the Finn is running again for his hometown club KalPa Kuopio in the SM- liiga on, where he was between 2011 and 2013 Team Captain.

After the 2012/13 season, he finished his career and became an assistant coach at KalPa.

Internationally

For Finland, Miettinen took at junior level at the U18 European Junior Championships in 1993 and the U20 World Junior Championships in 1994 and 1995 in part. In 2003 he was senior level in the squad of his country in the Euro Hockey Tour.
