Tomohiro Matsunaga

Tomohiro Matsunaga (松 永 共 広jap, Tomohiro Matsunaga; born 27 June 1980 Yaizu, Shizuoka Prefecture) is a Japanese wrestler. His biggest success is winning the silver medal at the 2008 Olympics in free style bantamweight.

Career

At the 2007 World Championships in Baku, he met the 1st round on his nemesis Dilshod Mansurov and subject to that on points. As a consolation, he won in December 2007, his fourth Japanese championship title with a victory in the final over Hideki Taoka.

The year 2008 then became the most successful in his career. He won first at the Asian Championship in Jeju / South Korea before Yang Jae- hoon, South Korea and Firas Ali L Rafaee from Iran, which he also qualified for the Olympic Games in Beijing. In Beijing, he won over Adama Diatta from Senegal, Sezer Akgül from Turkey and - finally - also Dilshod Mansurov. This victory was a 4-3 techn. Points and 2-1 rounds very scarce. All the more surprising was his clear points victory ( 8-0 techn. Dots 2-0 rounds) in the semifinals over the reigning world champion Besik Kuduchow from Russia.
