Tonoshō, Kagawa

Tonoshō (Japanese土 庄 町, -chō ) is a town in the ShoZu -gun Kagawa prefecture in Japan.

Tonoshō extends over several islands in the Seto Inland Sea; but is primarily located on the island Shodoshima.

The small island of Teshima has been abused since the early 1980s in violation of statutory provisions as an industrial landfill. The waste caused pollution and nuisances to the residents and there were numerous complaints to the Prefecture, but these were ignored by the governor of the prefecture. It was not until 2000, they came to an agreement between the prefecture and local residents.
