Tony DiTerlizzi
Tony DiTerlizzi ( born September 6, 1969) is an American illustrator and writer. He is best known for his collaboration with Holly Black at the fantasy series The Spiderwick Chronicles (English original title " The Spiderwick Chronicles "). He has worked as an illustrator of children's books, materials for pen & paper role-playing games and fantasy books.
Life
He attended the Florida School of the Arts, where he studied graphic design. In 1992, he made it his degree at the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale. He then worked for the company Tactical Studies Rules ( TSR) at the Pen -and- paper role- playing game Dungeons & Dragons. His illustrations in the Planescape Campaign Setting apply, in addition to the concept art by Dana Knutson, as being essential for the Planescape scenario. So setting was praised the graphic design of books, among other things on Planesape Campaign, won the Origins Award for best graphic featuring a role playing game for the DiTerlizzi with his colleagues in 1994. Also the derived therefrom, published in 1995, TCG Blood Wars was put together by DiTerlizzi. Following the acquisition of TSR in 1997 by Wizards of the Coast, he illustrated for the company in the years to match materials and character - manuals ( for example, to collectible card game Magic: The Gathering ) and provided input to RPG magazines like Dragon.
In the late 1990s he also illustrated books such as Giant Bones by Peter S. Beagle, The Beloved Dearly by Doug Cooney and Dinosaur Summer by Greg Bear. Too many books, he also designed book covers. His fantastic pictures of works by J.R.R. Tolkien, Anne McCaffrey and others have already won several awards. He had the greatest success so far but with The Spiderwick Chronicles.
DiTerlizzi also wrote two self- illustrated books: Jimmy Zangwow 's Out -of- This- World Moon Pie Adventure and Ted.
He now lives with his wife Angela and daughter as a freelance writer, illustrator and filmmaker in western Massachusetts.
