Torbjörn Ek

Torbjörn Erik Ek ( born June 25, 1949 in Ljusdal, Gävleborg, † August 18, 2010 ibid ) was a Swedish football and Bandyspieler. In Bandy, he played 102 matches and took part in six World Cups.

Career

Football career

Ek began in parallel with the football and Bandyspielen. 1967 debuted the striker in the men's team of Ljusdals IF, which played into the third division. Under coach Jens Lindblom he went with the team to the second division. In the summer of 1971 he took the coach to AIK in the Allsvenskan, since he was trained in Stockholm at the gym -och Idrottshögskolan for teachers. Ek began his Bandykarriere at Ljusdals BK. By 1975, he ran on for the club in the Bandyallsvenskan and said goodbye by winning the Swedish championship for the league rivals Västerås SK. Here he played until 1980 before he played in the first Swedish League for IFK Kungälv to 1987.

1967 Ek won the World Youth Championship in bandy. 1970, 1972 and 1978, he was awarded as Bandyspieler of the year.

After the active time

Even during his playing days in Bandy Ek took over as coach of the football team of code IF. Between 1983 and 1987 he oversaw the club. From 1986 he has also served as player-manager of the Bandymannschaft IFK Kungälv. Then he coached until 1991, the Bandymannschaft of Ale Surte SK. In 1993 he was briefly Swedish Bandynationaltrainer.

Until 1985 Ek worked as a teacher. He then started his own business with his own sporting goods store. Since 1987 he has worked at a gaming company Svenska Spel and the predecessor Tipstjänst.
