Torbjørn Yggeseth

Torbjørn Yggeseth ( born June 18, 1934 in Asker, † 10 January 2010) was a Norwegian ski jumper.

For the first time internationally successful Yggeseth in 1959 in Kulm, when he won the ski flying competition with 127 m. In the same year he was honored as Norway's Sportsman of the Year. In 1960, the launching of Heggedal IL Yggeseth at the Olympic Winter Games in 1960 in Squaw Valley. On the normal hill he finished fifth at the end. From 1962 he started at the Four Hills Tournament. Already in his first competition on December 28, 1962 in Oberstdorf, he could jump with the 3rd place on the podium. After a 7th place in Innsbruck and 6th place in Garmisch -Partenkirchen, he won his first jump at the Tournament in Bischofshofen. At the end, he finished as the 2nd place in the overall standings tour. In the Norwegian championship of the normal hill in Kristiansand, he won the silver medal behind Torgeir Brandtzæg. For his achievements, he was honored in the same year, together with Astrid Sandvik, Pawel Koltschin and Alevtina Koltschina with the Holmenkollen medal.

Also at the Four Hills Tournament 1963/64, he took part and won the opening event in Oberstdorf. After two mediocre jumping in Innsbruck and Garmisch- Partenkirchen, he jumped in Bischofshofen again with third place on the podium, finishing just as in the previous year at the end of the 2nd place in the overall standings. One month after the tour, he was part of the squad for the Olympic Winter Games in 1964 in Innsbruck. On the normal hill he jumped to 14th place, which he tied had to share with the Finn Niilo Halonen and the Americans Kotlarek genes. From the large hill he jumped to 28th place. It was his last international competition.

By 2004 Yggeseth was chairman of the department at the FIS Ski Jumping and was replaced by Jouko Törmänen. Yggeseth resigned after a dispute between him and the jumper Anette Sagen was publicly. He spoke out publicly against women in ski jumping, although he still had in 1996 promoted the ladies jumping. In 1988 came Yggeseth under criticism when he opened with the words " within the FIS, we do not want such a development " against developed by Jan Boklöv V- style spoke out. He intended also to dismiss Judges, the non-rated this style with a points deduction.
