Torslanda IK

The Torslanda Idrottsklubb is a Swedish sports club from Torslanda in the municipality of Gothenburg.

History

Torslanda IK was founded in 1944. In the 1950s, the departments for football, table tennis, handball and ice hockey, which in the late 1960s even was come a gymnastics department emerged. 1972, there was also a bowling section, two full years later, the ice hockey games was set at the club. Again, two years later, the handball section split off as Tolereds AIK.

In 1987, the football team Torslanda IK rose to the fifth rate Division 4 and qualified in the same year for the first time for the Svenska Cupen. After relegation in 1992 succeeded two years later as Season winners return to the fifth division. Again, two years later reached the summit in the fourth-rate Division 3 Nordvästra Götaland, where successful season as winners of the direct walkover into the third league. There, the team failed after two defeats at IFK Malmö.

In the following years Torslanda could not build on the successes and placed itself only in mid-table. If a new league reform in Sweden following the season 2005 the team was once again victims of the concentration process. After a fifth place in the standings, the team had to compete in play-off matches to qualify for the newly introduced third-tier Division 1. Following significant losses against Ängelholms FF and IF Myresjö the club missed the part and had to compete in the now fourth-rate Västra Götaland Division 2. However, managed as a relay winners direct return to the third division, where in the first season with three points ahead of relegated Kristianstad FF relegation was done. The subsequent season ended the club together with Västra Frölunda IF and Ytterby IS the relegation zone.
