Rise

Host of the show was Jay Stewart (1918-1989), producer Bill Wagnon and directors Wesley Tuttle and the famous country singer Johnny Bond. The show was from the Town Hall (English city hall ) of the city of Compton, California broadcast live. The hall has been specially prepared so that it looked like an old barn, similar to the Country shows of the 1930s and 1940s. Famous guests included Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, Skeets McDonald and Lefty Frizzell. The show even went so successful that in 1958, Columbia Records released an album with performances by the artists. The success of the Town Hall Party saw itself primarily in the fact that the mission of adapting the musical realities of the time. Rockabilly and rock ' n ' roll musicians such as Gene Vincent, Bob Luman and Wanda Jackson were allowed to occur regularly or are members of the ensemble, which also appealed to the young audience.

Through talent contests the line was out looking for new musicians, which they considered suitable. 1959 graduated from the group Lee Austin & the Last of the Rebels, winners of such competition, in the Town Hall Party appearances.

After the " heyday " of the country shows in the 1940s and 1950s the Town Hall Party lost its popularity and was discontinued in 1961.
