Province

Trang ( Thai: ตรัง ) is a large city ( เทศบาล นคร ตรัง ) in the Thai province of Trang. It is the capital of the district ( Amphoe ) Mueang Trang and the capital of the province of Trang.

The city of Trang has 60 735 inhabitants. (2012 )

Geography

Trang Province is located in the southern region of Thailand. The city is situated on Maenam Trang Trang about 20 km from the Indian Ocean. The environment shows up as gently rolling hills with endless rubber plantations.

Trang is located in the Islamic south, the inhabitants are mainly Malays and Chinese. This is the many mosques and Chinese temples clearly, a few Wats stand out from them.

Economic importance and

Rubber is the main product of the regional agriculture and the city serves as the main hub.

According to the Malay rebels triggered by riots, the Thai government cares amplified by the South and invested in irrigation and infrastructure.

History

Trang was right on the coast of the Andaman Sea for about 2,000 years. Because of the constant flooding in the seasonal storms it was moved in the 19th century in the interior.

Education

In Amphoe Mueang Trang is a side campus of Prince of Songkla University.
