Route

The starting point of the 14.9 km long route is the Seebahnhof in Gmunden. Are 15 stops, is where stopped, if necessary between the harbor station and the terminus Vorchdorf - Eggenberg. The iron gates station and the stop Gschwandt - Raber mountain are sidings for train crossings. Both Dodge are equipped with relapse turnouts. Most stops have a shelter, next to the old wooden buildings are concrete cottages and more modern variants to be found in glass. In Vorchdorf - Eggenberg there is a connection to the standard gauge local railway Lambach - Vorchdorf - Eggenberg.

The speed limit is 50 km / h Most crossings are secured with Andrew's crosses and stop signs; seven crossings have a light warning device. The rails are laid on wooden sleepers. Apart from a few concrete poles for the overall direction is predominantly attached to wooden poles. Immediately at the end of the line close to the railway tracks, the star & Hafferl main workshop.

From the beginning, a connection with the Gmunden tramway was planned. Following the decision of the expansion in 2006 these plans first appear realistic. The renovation of the existing tram route has already taken place, in the future the re- extension should the link be realized with the Traunseebahn to the Town Hall Square and subsequently. The facilities of the Traunseebahn to be adapted so that continuous trips from Vorchdorf - Eggenberg to Gmunden station are possible. After renovation work on the local rail system, the speed could be partially increased, which had a positive impact on the travel time. By reconstructing the route travel time could be shortened compared to 2008 to 26 minutes. In addition, an approximate hour has been introduced. In addition to be built back in further remedial work, the three-rail track. The necessary track material has been procured and is currently stored near the Seebahnhofs. In the future, it will therefore be between Gmunden and Seebahnhof Engelhof only one meter gauge track, as the ÖBB has abandoned its route to the harbor station. In the future, more stops are to be rehabilitated and re-created. The last stage for improvements in the track and at the stops were carried out in summer 2011. These improvement measures were marked by the raising of the speed limit to 60 km / h on the route section.

As it has not been started with the extension of the Gmunden tramway, still run the old vehicles on the track. The procurement of new low-floor vehicles to be carried out jointly with the tram and the Attergaubahn. In October 2011, therefore Kirchham place was also presented the new locomotives from Bombardier Flexity Outlook in addition to the new stops.
