Trigonopoma

Rotstreifenbärbling ( Trigonopoma pauciperforatum )

Trigonopoma is a genus of small freshwater fish that is found in Thailand, Cambodia, on the Malay Peninsula and Indonesia.

Features

Trigonopoma species reach an elongated, laterally flattened body having a maximum length of 5.5 to 7 cm. The head is pointed, the fin is long and sometimes longer than the body high. The caudal fin is forked. Trigonopoma species have a colored band along the sides of the body. The lateral line is incomplete or missing entirely.

From Rasbora is Trigonopoma distinguished by the triangular reduced in the upper half of gill cover.

System

The two species of the genus originally belonged to the collection genus Rasbora. In the year 2009 a Liao, Kullander & Catch the genus Trigonopoma, which is sister to the genus Boraras.

Both species live in clear black water rivers and streams and in peaty swamps.
