Trofeo Luis Puig

The Trofeo Luis Puig was a Spanish cycling race. The one-day race took place from 1981 to 2005 annually in February in the Autonomous Community of Valencia instead. Is named the race after Luis Puig, a former president of the International Cycling Union.

The race always ended in the city of Valencia. By contrast, the starting point varied. Until 1989 he was in small towns in the province, as Algemesm, Benifays, Burjassot, Torrent, Elda, Denia and Cullera, or Benidorm. Since the start was either in Benidorm and Valencia. In the introduction of the UCI Europe Tour, in 2005, the race was part of this series and classified in category 1.1. For 2006, a discharge was planned. Due to the high cost of the race and lack of cooperation of the municipality of Benidorm, the race was canceled and was no longer held ever since. Record winner are the German Erik Zabel and the Belgian Noël Dejonckheere each with three victories. In addition, could decide the race with Andreas Kappes and Reimund Dietzen two more German.
