Turbo (Polish band)

Turbo is a Polish heavy and thrash metal band from Posen, founded in 1980, disbanded in 1992 and was re- established in 1996.

History

The band was founded in January 1980 by bassist Henryk Tomczak. A short time later came guitarist Wojciech Hoffmann, drummer and vocalist Wojciech Wojciech Anioła Sowula to fill. Shortly thereafter, a single with the songs środku W tej nocy and byłem z toba tyle lat published it. In November 1980, the singer Sowula left the cast and was replaced by Piotr Krystek. It further titles were recorded, which were played on the radio. In addition, a further line-up changes followed: Bassist Tomczak left the band and was replaced by the 16 -year-old Piotr Przybylski. Andrzej Łysów came as second guitarist for the band as the new singer came Grzegorz Kupczyk in the cast.

In 1982 the debut album Dorosłe Dzieci appeared. The publication was followed by several live performances. The post of drummer changed constantly and Marek Olszak went over Ryszard Oleksy on Przemysław Pahl. The latter was replaced by Alan Sors. Bassist Piotr Przybylski also left the band and was replaced by Bogusz Rutkiewicz. In 1985 the next album Smak ciszy was recorded and released. In the following year appeared another album called Kawaleria Szatana. After the release, the band reached a deal with Metal Mind Productions.

In 1987, the recording of the album Ostatni Wojownik followed. A year later the album was released as an English version under the name Last Warrior in Europe. On the album Tomasz Göhs could be heard as the new drummer. In 1988 the live album Alive!, On the two concerts, 30 December 1986 and 3 March 1987, to hear.

In 1989, the cast again changed greatly: Bogusz Rutkiewicz left the band, Andrzej Łysów switched from guitar to bass and Robert " Litza " Friedrich came as the new guitarist for the band. Together they recorded the album epidemic, which appeared as English later under the name of Epidemic. 1990 left Grzegorz Kupczyk and Andrzej Łysów the band. As a new bassist Tomasz Olszewski and came as the new singer Robert Friedrich to fill. Together they recorded the album Dead End. After the release the band was inactive for a while. In 1990 a compilation was published, had to listen to the songs from 1980 to 1990.

Wojciech Hoffman tried to revive in 1991. The album One Way was published, but which was only released on cassette. The publication proved to be a financial loss, so they disbanded at the time being. In 1992, the compilation Titanic, on the previously unreleased recordings were included appeared. A year later appeared with Dorosłe Dzieci i inne Ballady a compilation of all the ballads of the band.

In 1995, the band played a gig in Poznan, where in addition to Wojciech Hoffmann, Grzegorz Kupczyk, Bogusz Rutkiewicz also a guitarist and drummer Szymon Marcin Białożyk Ziomkowski were heard. Due to the success of the concert, the band was officially re-established on 1 January 1996. In 1997, another compilation called Intro 1982-1996 appeared. In 1999, Metal Mind published the discography of the band again. It was followed by several appearances at festivals. In 2000, a remastered version of Titanic was released called Remix '92.

In 2001, the album was released Awatar. The cast here was composed of Hoffmann, Kupczyk, Rutkiewicz and drummer Mariusz Bobkowski. In 2004, the occupation changed again, so that drummer Tomek Krzyżaniak and guitarist Dominik Jokiel were in the band next to Wojciech Hoffmann, Grzegorz Bogusz Kupczyk and Rutkiewicz. The album Tożsamość appeared in the same year. In subsequent years, the band paused and the members went after other projects. In March and April 2007 took a tour held in conjunction with Chainsaw. In 2009, the album Straznik Swiatla appeared.

Style

Go to the top of their career, the band played more classic Heavy Metal. The music developed in the course of career to classical, quickly played thrash metal, while also occasionally sound parallels to be drawn Black Metal. The group is compared to other bands of the genre such as disaster and the Swedish band Bewitched.
