Turecká (Hungarian Torok ) is a small municipality in Okres Banská Bystrica within the Banskobystrický kraj in Slovakia, with about 140 inhabitants.

The municipality is located in a narrow valley of the brook Starohotský creek in the mountains Velka Fatra, within the limits of the local National Parks, under the mountain Krížna ( 1574 m nm). It is accessible only on a county road miles off of Staré Hory and located 17 kilometers north of Banská Bystrica.

Turecká, precisely the Turecká Valley is mentioned for the first time in 1563 as vallis Turetzka and was a lumberjack and Kohler village which to supply the huts in Stare Hory (German Altgebirg ) and Špania Dolina (German Herrengrund ) was used. Since the late 17th century, the division between an upper and a lower part is occupied. From 1808 to 1990 she was a part of Staré Hory.

The name is not of Turks ( Turecká means on German and Turkish), but from the location on an old road to landscape Turz ( Slow Turcianska ) can be derived.
