TVR M Series#3000M.2C Taimar.2C and 3000S

TVR 3000S (1979 )

The TVR 3000S is an open, hand crafted sports car that was manufactured in 1978 and 1979 by TVR in Blackpool ( England). This car was the last of the TVR M Series and was replaced by his production end of the Tasmin 280i. The price of the last 3000S was £ 8,730, a total of 258 specimens originated. 67 of them were left steered.

Survey

Mechanically the 3000S coupe almost the 3000M and the combi coupe Taimar. The chassis, engine, transmission, suspension, brakes and differential have in common the three models. A Part of the interior and almost all body parts but were redesigned for the 3000S.

Many components of the car ( such as position lights, brakes, hinges, latches, etc. ) come from vehicles from other manufacturers, only the chassis and body are manufactured by TVR.

Because of the manual small-series production at TVR there are many small variations between individual vehicles of the same model, most of which are not documented. This is due to differences in the availability of the parts (for example, there is only a small part of the last 3000S vehicles a map-reading light that is mounted in the window frame ).

Interior

Driver and passenger sit very low on both sides of a high transmission tunnel. With vinyl coated foam to most surfaces, such as the center console, ds dash and boot covers.

When they adjusted the earlier construction of the TVR M series for the 3000S, were replaced the windshield of the Ford Consul against another disc with a lower base. This necessitated a new arrangement of Anzeigeinstumente, causing the speedometer and odometer landed on both sides of the center tunnel.

The foam padding of the seats with age tends to drape and rupture, leading some buyers to incorporate appropriate seats from the accessories. Most of the seats from the accessories do not fit into the fiberglass body, only very low and narrow specimens ( such as the Pontiac Fiero ( 1984-1988 ) ) can be used.

Outside amenities

The GRP body appears those of the earlier M- series similar, but all the parts behind half of the front fenders are newly designed to accommodate the convertible roof, retractable side windows and invoice the trunk lid. The doors were cut in the style of a classic roadster above. All cars were bumper, which were covered with black rubber, as the chromed bumper M-Series were no longer manufactured.

The vents, which first appeared in the 2500M, disappeared, because the Ford Essex engine was inclined less than the previously used six-cylinder Triumph to overheat.

Drive

The 3000S is powered by a carburetor -equipped V6 engine of the Ford Essex series. The engine power is transmitted via a Ford four-speed gearbox to the rear wheels. With the Weber- Doppelchoke carburettor, type 38 DGAS and a compression of 8,9:1, the engine delivered an output of 142 bhp (104 kW) at 5000 min-1 and a torque of 233 Nm at 3000 min -1. Its displacement is 2994 cc with a bore of 93.6 m and a stroke of 72.4 mm. Thus, the vehicle met the U.S. emission standards, the engine with secondary air injection ( AIR), exhaust gas recirculation ( EGR) and a catalyst equipped.

The engine power is a single-plate with 241 mm in diameter on the four-speed gearbox and then forwarded to the Jaguar / Salisbury differential on the rear axle.

Chassis

For the 3000S TVR put the same central tube frame one as in the vehicles of the M series. He was much longer and stiffer than the previous TVR models, for example, the Vixen. All four wheels were individually suspended by unequal length wishbones. The car had a rack and pinion steering.

Wheels

The 3000S had special TVR "T- Slot" alloy wheels 6JK x 14 with radial tires 185 R14 H.
